Daniel De Ridder Pictures Premiership Survival In First Season With Birmingham City

Birmingham Citys latest signing Daniel De Ridder has set his sights on helping keep Birmingham in the Premiership for the next few seasons, and wants to avoid the relegation dog-fight which is inevitably going to be linked to the Premiership new boys Birmingham, Sunderland and Derby County.

De Ridder firmly believes that if his new side are able to survive for the first season in the Premiership then they should be able to build themselves a platform at the club, so that they should be able to build a real Premiership quality club which would be able to start challenging further up the league.

Daniel De Ridder comes fresh from the European under 21 Championships where he starred in an attacking midfield role for his native country Holland. De Ridder caught the eye of many football clubs, including Ajax, but it was Birmingham Citys Steve Bruce that pushed through for a deal for the talented Dutch footballer. De Ridder arrived on a free transfer from Spanish club side Celta Vigo, as he was out of contact and was deemed surplus to requirements at Celta.

Before the Euro 21 Championships in Holland, the past season was probably one De Ridder would rather forget after spending most of the time in the medical room receiving various treatments for his unlucky string of injuries. De Ridder didnt get to make many appearances for Celta Vigo either, but thankfully he got an opportunity for the Dutch U21 side where he put in some superb performances.

Daniel De Ridder now seems to be in a great position, about to play his football in one of the best leagues in the world after having seen his reputation greatly improved with some dazzling performances for his national side.
